Motivation! And a passport!

Hi

My sister and her husband emigrated to Australia over a year ago. It took about 6 months to all go thru. One of the bases was that you had to have a recognised qualification, she is a nurse and she actually combined her wedding/honeymoon with  a job interview whilst she was out there. Once she found out she had the job she went thru the process of moving out there. Her job at the hospital understood she would take it on the basis that she was allowed into the country. I think she said they are on a 2 yr visa thing and after that time they have to apply for permanent residency.

I think she got in touch with the Australian embassy and they gave her all the info she needed, so if you got in touch with the embassy of the country you wish to go to I am sure they can help you.

I know she had to sort out her own police check and have a medical both at her expense.

We also have family out there which if I remember correctly also works in your favour.

Ofcourse I'm only going on bits and pieces my sister told me along the way of her moving out there but they have been so happy out there that I must admit I am jealous! lol

I wouldn't say it was easy for them but it was definatly worth it.

Hope some of this helps

I was thinking about Europe when I said 'motivation' - but don't forget you must think about language...
For most of Europe you have to have  no police record and loads of others forms and papers.
Europe is a piece of ..... well it's easy. We moved out to Spain over 1 year ago. You need NO paperwork to arrive. Within 183 days you have to apply for a 'residencia'. It's just a legal card and saves you carrying your passport (Carrying ID is compulsory for all). NO police record questions. Just fill in a form, take it to the police  station here, wait 6 months for an appointment to be fingerprinted and then another 6 weeks to collect your card. As an EU member it's really easy moving aroung Europe.

Fingerprints?

It's not so easy to go to the U.S.  You need a visa (ages, I believe)  and a Green Card if you intend working.  A Green Card is easy if you have a job to go to, but otherwise not.  I don't think anywhere you mention allows convicted criminals to enter.  If you go to Oz to retire, you would have to have a considerable amount of money, and there's a cut-off age I believe, as they don't want burdens on the State.
