I'm a newbie to dvd backup/authoring. Have worked out how to backup dvds using dvd shrink. I have two short dvds (cartoons etc) which would easily fit onto one 4.7GB dvd-r disc - But can anyone tell me if there is an easy way to copy two dvds to one blank dvd-r and preserve the original menu structure of both the source discs.

That's getting pretty deep into DVD formats. You can't even split a DVD into two disks without losing the menu (on the second DVD). There are some powerfull tools out there that allow you to do lots of DVD editing and rebuilding but haven't gone that far into it myself. Take a look at this page and the whole site http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?howtoselect=5;18#5;18 The best info on DVD backups.
You can only have one menu per dvd I'm afraid.
What you need is DVD Copy and DVD Burner

two steps:
1.copy your DVDs to your PC or Mac.

2.burn two DVDs files or videos to one blank DVD-5(DVD-R)
