yes..When my ex and I seperated,our house stood empty for 6 months while it was on the market. During that time little or no electric was used--yet we recieved an astronomical bill for it...we refused to pay...they still send requests for it,and it is over 3 years ago.

My local dr's had a locum for a month. The village had heard that she was horrible & rude.
I had to go see her so I figured I'd pre-emt (sp?) the situation by going in smiling.
But no.
She started off by telling me she only had 10 mins so would only hear of one ailment. I have an arrangement with my usual dr, so I informed her of this. It's to get sleeping pills if I need them occasionally.
She didn't really listen & shouted at me,
"Are you an addict!"
Needless to say I just walked out without a word & refused to pay the bill.
As lots of other people had.

I once refused to pay an electricity bill. About 6 months after I left a rented property I got sent a bill for silly money (I think it was about �1700), which was laughable seeing as I had paid by regular dd. They insisted I get a meter reading - how could I?! I had left the property ages before and the electricity had been used. After a "frank exchange of views" they agreed to reduce the bill to something like �3.80 which I refused to pay on the "legal" basis that they were fcukwits. Told them to sue me for it if they wanted to. Funnily enough, I never heard another word.

yes I refused to pay my conveyancing bill 'cos my solicitors were rubbish and through their utter incompetence my completion was delayed by approx 2 months......eventually paid with �250.00 knocked off........

Yes. I had a leccie round to my shop once and he was trying to fix the aircon/heating vents in the walls. He played around with them for 2 hours, then said he'd need to get the right parts. Two weeks later, no parts, just a bill for �65. When I queried the bill, the lady on the phone said it was for his time. I protested and so she said it was for investigative work (time spent trying to find the parts - that couldn't actually be found). I asked if he was a Private Detective or an electrician. Eventually, she agreed to write off the bill, for the sake of "goodwill". I never got the heaters fixed.

The Woolwich sent me a notice of repossession on my house, several months after I'd handed over a cheque, for around �36,000, paying the mortgage off.

When I went to their branch in Ipswich, the manager eventually managed to locate my payment but then tried to charge me the interest between the time I'd handed over the cheque and when she told the computer that I'd paid it in!

It was only when I pointed out the local newspaper was based just a few yards down the road (with an office full of reporters looking for a story) that she managed to find a way to cancel the interest ;-)

Oh and the other time was when my carpet fitter cut through my burglar alarm cable necessitating a call out fee for it to be fixed. The cheeky so and so wanted payment in full as the "cutting through" was an "occupational hazard" - despite my showing him where the visible cables were. I knocked the call out/repair fee off his bill and paid him the balance. He spent about 6 months writing to me with all sorts of threats, which I largely ignored til I lost my rag and sent him a rather terse letter explaining various legal issues and inviting him to serve proceedings. He shut up then.

Yes. I once received credit card statements long after I'd finished with it completely. In fact, any usage was paid for in full each month. They kept adding charges on for contacting me, so I went into the bank, stormed through to the manager's office and plonked the evidence on his desk. The said paperwork was returned to me some days later with a letter of profuse apology - and a bouquet of flowers!!!
