Last month Mrs Overall started a thread about songs played at funerals and how people were trying to make them less solemn and sorrowfull affairs, today in the Express there is an article about a lady, who dying of cancer designed her own coffin, decorated with pictures of her children and the things she loved. so what do you think folks, whats the way to go, I'm going for as cheap as possible with the money I save being converted into malt whisky, beer and wine for whoever is left behiind

I want people prostate at it, weeping, wailing & all in black - for the service.
But afterwards - I want them to cast off their black, stick some of my favourite music on, dance wildly & raise many a toast to what a good old sport & a laugh I was & how much I'll be missed.

One of the old guys at a local golf club died and was cremated. His wish was for his ashes to be strewn over the water of a pond on the course that he had frequently lost balls in. Three of his mates quietly took the ashes and tipped the urn over the water, only to have the ashes blown back over them by the wind.
I trust my family totally to send me off and say their goodbyes in their own way . I'll let them decide everything , from the church to the coffin . I don't mind what they wear colourwise . I hope they will feel free at some point to discuss this before it's too late . The only thing they do know is that I'll come back and haunt them if the burn me !

Sorry to disappoint you bananas, it's just Ted, but Max ( my GSD) says send the bones anyway and he'll sort 'em out. I like your idea of a funeral, its a good way to be sent off. I know it might be a strange a strange thing to say but some of the very best times we've had as a family have been after funerals.
We're the same craft both with the Irish connection and the fact that the family is spread all over the country and the world so on the ocassions when we do all get together it usually develops into a right shindig, unfortunatley it only seems to happen at weddings (too few) and funerals (to many ) these days
