I think only yellow fever is compulsory but others like typhoid and polio and malaria are advisable
Here's the official advice from NaTHNaC (which is funded by the Department of Health, specifically to provide health advice for travellers):

Yellow fever, typhoid, paratyphoid and tetanus are ones you should have in any case. As for official advice, it is as much for those who give it as those whom it is given to (to cover themselves, and other reasons). In Nigeria you should expect to possibly be exposed to meningitis, so learn how to recognise it and be willing to go for a check if you least suspect it. Regarding malaria, I would direct you to http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Travel/Question 724302.html for my view. Any advice to get injections for hepatitis is something I decided against - it is (or at least was) very uncomfortable and of very questionable value (short and poor effectiveness). In my several years in Nigeria, I never got any of the dreaded diseases except serious intestinal infections - I soon stopped eating out because I was ill after each outing, without fail even at the poshest hotels/restaurants..
I'd take everything I could lay my hands on.....!
