The only two international carriers into Raratonga Airport are Pacific Blue and Air New Zealand. Of those two, it would seem to make sense to consider Air New Zealand first because they offer more routes (ex Auckland, Christchurch & LA, while Pacific Blue only operate ex Auckland) and, more importantly, because they're part of the Star Alliance group.

South African Airways, who operate out of Lusaka (to Jo'burg), are also part of the Star Alliance group, so they should be able to offer through ticketing (which might be considerably cheaper than booking individual flight sectors). The SAA website doesn't accept online bookings from Lusaka to Raratonga, so you'll need to phone the airline. Their number, at Lusaka Airport is +260 211 271-031 or +260 211 271-101

it may be worth inquiring about Pacific Blue, though, as they're a low-cost airline - a sister of Virgin - so it might just save in money what you lose in convenience.
