Hi,
I am using IE7 as my main browser and Firefox as a second(backup), not because I don't like Firefox it just old habits die hard. Anyhow I can't open IE7 what I mean is the application opens but none of the internet pages are downloaded, but the internet service is available since I am able to write this question using the Firefox browser.
Any ideas of what the problem could be???

Click on the tools menu, select internet options, then click on the connections tab.

Then on that page click on "LAN settings" at the bottom and make sure none if the tick boxes have ticks in them, click ok a few times and try again.

hi I've tried what you have suggested but it hasn't made a difference, on the LAN settings the option to automatically detect settings was checked, I am running zone alarm and when I closed ZA I was able to connect to the interweb using IE7.

Open the ZoneAlarm control center, Select "Program Control" on the left, then Select "Programs" on the top, then.....Look for IE in the list of programs and make sure it is allowed to access the internet (green tick in the access internet column!)

If that doesn't work then just remove all occurrences of IE from the list and next time you run IE it will ask you if you want to allow access.

Absolutely spot on, checked Program controls, programs and internet explorer was denied. I don't know why this happened but I allowed it and I am now using IE7 to add this comment.
