thank you jan thats most helpfull
We stayed at Westward Ho! which is a good place to stay but Bideford is quite central for lots of things. You have Barnstaple nearby which is another nice town, then there are some spectacular beaches at Woolacombe and Croyde. There is a wonderful place called the Big Sheep off the A39 and that's fun for any age. You also have Clovelly and Hartland Point and you are close to Exmoor which is stunning. You will have a wonderful time
Long term forecast is for heavy rain in North Devon in August. Your van may be washed away in floods (please!!).

if SgtCrocky has been there it will be in the Sally army hostel
Hi all we live in Barnstaple which is 15mins from Bideford. Personally from a local perspective Bideford is cute, pretty reasonable shopping and a great place to relax. There are MANY beaches and walks in and around North Devon. If you want any info please dont hesitate to contact me back. (by the way its now 18:20 pm sunday and the sun is Beaming down and has been all day).

Yeah cheers Rock!!!

Went to Devon as a kid, stayed at Instow which is virtually opposite across the water. Weather was awful and holiday had to be cut short because of a foot of water in the caravan park.
Lucky you rnchugg - lovely part of the world. I have spent a lot of time in those parts
