The question must be asked if she is the reigning Miss Black Britain, why was she allowed to enter a prominently White beauty contest, in the prominently White city of York?

Would a White girl been allowed to enter for the Miss Black Britain contest?

If we must have one race discrimination beauty contest, ie 'Miss Black Britain' then let's us also have a Miss White Britain contest.

Why not, anyone know?

She's an extremely attractive young lady and I find it not surprising but still disappointing that there are these sorts of idiots (the prattish caller!) still living in our midst.

What does it matter that she's also a "Miss Black Britain" winner? We could also hold a "Miss White Britain", but why?

Are we then going to have "Men's Institutes" cropping up? Or "The Heterosexual Pride" march? Or the "White Police Association"? etc etc etc ad nauseum.
I love that headline - "the 'white city' of York". The use of quotation marks might lead you to suppose it was, well, quoting someone... but no, nobody used the phrase but the Mail itself. Expect the BNP to pick up on it, though.

'White Britain' doesn't really have a shared identity, though. 'Black Britain' does, in a way. So as paraffin says, it doesn't really make much sense.

'Course, if somebody wanted to do one, there's nothing stopping them...

Because she studies there.

You're making a mountain of a molehill.

Why not, do you really think it would be allowed? Not a cat in hells chance. The race card would be played to have it stopped.

Exactly they all sound ridiculous, so why the need for a 'Miss Black Britain Contest'?, 'Women's institutes', 'The Homosexual Pride March', or 'The Black Police Association' ???????????
Because each of those groups has a distinct 'identity' - relatively speaking (well, maybe not 'women's institutes' but that's different). It's not too inaccurate to speak of the 'black community' or the 'gay community'.

Would anyone join a white-based organisation? I doubt it, because not many white people consider the fact that they're white part of their identity. Whites make up such an overwhelmingly vast proportion of the population it's almost too big to be considered a 'group' or a 'community' because no such mentality exists. Identities tend to exist inside it.

There's really nothing stopping anyone. Apart from their own assumption (and yes, it is an assumption) that it wouldn't be allowed. The people who have set up pro-black/pro-gay organizations obviously feel there is a need or a purpose for them. What would the purpose of a white-based one be?

To stick up for White's rights, no one else seems to do.
