We also used to canoe down the river with my dad, and fish for sticklebacks. Hide and Seek and Sardines are great games for farms. Also, you could involve the animals. Feeding, helping etc. If you have horses you could teach them to ride. Water fights are great too with farm hoses. Also, you could send them off on bike rides with picnics if you have a lot of land. If none of that helps, you could put up a basketball net, a soccer goal or a tennis net - all make great Christmas and B-day presents!
Just remember the old addage about buying a kid a REALLY expensive toy and then they spend Christmas day playing with the box. I know your boys are older than that, but if you teach them some basic DIY skills so they don't hurt themselves, they could have HOURS of fun with stuff you grown ups thought was old scrap! :-) Highly commendable that you're not just getting them a PS2 and leaving them to turn fat and pastey white over the summer! :-)
god, i would love some farm land to play on, if i was about 12 i would be getting dad to buy an old kids scramble bike and using a small corner of your farmland to make a scrambling area! a farm backing on to us has allowed one of its smaller fields to be used as one to encourage/discourage moto bikers going on his other fields ruining crops and it is popular with youngsters aged 4 and 5 years old through to adults over 60 bringing there motorbikes along to ride around the field and over a couple of small hills that have developed!
cool! someone from the usa. i live in delawear. anyway, do you have animals outside? make it a chore to feed the pigs, or whatever you have. walk the dog. haveing a swingset out back might help. my neice is 9 and she loves her swingset. my son who is 2 loves it at my mom's. she has alot of land, so he loves riding 4 wheelers, and his john deer tractor. he drives it through the mud! hey mabey all you need is a good mud puddle! mabey limit thier tv time. and make them get up in the morning. not staying in bed till noon. good luck!
