ipod dysfunctioning.. driving me crazy!!!
7 Answers
Hi I have owned my ipod mini for about 6months now: a while ago it stopped working properly: It always lets me play music but the click wheel stopped working properly & wouldnt let me turn the device off & I had to listen to a whole playlist at once (ie: I couldnt skip back a whole menu) I got in touch with apple who were quite unhelpful & told me it would have to be sent to the usa?! Then magically, it came back to working as new for about a month. Now its back to malfunctioning again. Please help! Ive tried re-setting it many times & have also updated my itunes & downloading software! The click wheel does still work for volume & skipping songs forward - it just wont switch off or skip back a a whole menu.

ipods at the mo are doing ***** in my opinion the software is just not that good with windows, seems to mess up the harddrive on the ipod, which can then mess things up like your getting, afraid only way to get sorted is to send it off again, ive had mine sent off twice now, after complaining got few freebies off em, so just make sure u dont get ipod again!get a sony mp3 player one of the new ones! :)
ipod seems fine with me on software and windows, but i did have a problem after a month using mine of it not turning on at all, even after charging for hours, then after about 40 attempts at trying and thinking it was not a happy ipod, it suddenly started working ok, that has happened twice but now has worked fine for 4 months
First, try resetting your iPod using the iPod software (make sure you download the latest iPod software from www.apple.com/ipod). Be warned that this will erase all data, so back it up first.
If that doesn't solve your problems, as the above says, it's under warranty and Apple is good for after-sales service. It could just be a faulty item.

Yeh, I'm sure it is under warranty - problem being I bought it from USA on ebay, although it was brand new & sealed in box. Apple shop in edinburgh told me I would need to send it to usa & couldnt give me an address to send it to or email address or anything. I miss my ipod so much!!! My bus journeys are so boring now! The latest thing its done is got itself stuck on the "about" page & refuses to budge from it, its been there for 2days now. :-( thanks for all your help
And if all else fails get the latest software, check out the discussion forums, and finally contact apple all at http://www.apple.com/
