It probably depends on their health-giving properties. A potato is a vegetable, but is not classed as one of your 5-a-day, due to it's lack of nutritional value. However, some times of mushrooms are very nutritious. ******** mushrooms have a very potent anti-cancer compound.

ahhhhhhhhh there you go my question has been answered lol
Jesus - my brain is fried !! There was an error in the grammar; there should not have been an apostrophe in "its" and I'm not even sure of the spelling of the aforementioned mushrooms. !!
The reason why potatoes are not counted is because they are classified as STARCHY foods....NOT due to any lack of nutrtional value. Potatoes are quite high in vitamin C,B6 and fibre

Wheat is certainly not a vegetable and is not one of your five a day.

Wheat is classed as a cereal crop.
