the role of the godparent is one that should be taken seriously by the person who accepts it. a godparent should send a card or at least telephone each year on the anniversary of the godchild's baptism. the godparent's role is Christian guidance, and an additional *active* support person for the godchild's Christian life. active means go to church once in a while with your godchild, send a small gift of some Christian nature to the godchild once in a while, ask questions of the godchild. the godparent is someone to whom the godchild can turn when the godchild hesitates to talk to mom and dad.
if you are unhappy with the godmother, and of course i don't know your situation, but i would think step one is to pray on this matter; step two, let the godmother know. if that fails or is impossible, step three might be to contact your priest and ask for guidance.
the godmother made a solemn vow in church when she accepted her role. it is not one to take lightly by you or her, so i hope you can work it out. if not, you can't really "fire" her. you can turn to others in your life and ask if they can assist you in your Christian journey, but i've not heard of someone becoming a godmother at some point long after the baptism. nevertheless, you can ask someone to help fulfill that role in your life whether or not she actually becomes a godmother to you/for you.
it's only natural that the more Christian support you have around you, the easier it is to stay on the Christian path.
do talk to your priest in case i'm way out in left field here.
good luck -
