Hello Beatrice , I used to do a lot til about 4 years ago . It's lovely to do when you can . I still had all my books and a lot of materials and threads left , which I have now passed on to another cross-stitcher :-) x
I always have cross stitch pictures on the go. Doing another "Flower Fairy" at the moment - just for me, this time, as I have done many pictures for grandchildren and friends, and had them framed. I only do them for other people if they appreciate the amount of work involved. One of my daughters also enjoys cross stitching, but she has little time, as she has just had another (rather a surprise!! baby).

I always take a project with me on holiday, as I find it very therapeuti - we like cruising.

I designed for cross stitch magazines many years ago, but I usually do other people's designs now - lazy in my old age.
rofl @ bigmamma :0) xx

I also used to do them a few years ago, very relaxing it was too.
I'm a cross dresser.....does that count?

I am so sorry folks.

Cross stitch....when I was in hospital for 12 months as a med student......I was taught cross stitch. I would do table clothes and sell them, but my piece de resistance was a fireguard of Windsor Castle which I gave to my mother. She was very proud of it and as often as she could she would say " My son did that"

I also made a speciality of regimental crests.
Very pretty bigmamma.

Actually sqad teaching stitching to med students, and particularly surgeons, sounds eminently sensible to me
Rosetta.....I am not saying it did any good though LOL

Thanks for all the lovely replies + loved the links bigmamma + the pretty stitching :-) An avid stitcher- stitched all kinds of designs over the years for friends, family + for house as well as some for charity. Sorry did not reply earlier- was away from PC all of yesterday as was feeling particularly rough. Was even in too much pain to stitch. Yet, today feeling brighter so think will do some stitching. Iolanthe love flower fairies, too. Also, love stitching angels. Impressed, Iolanthe, that you have even designed cross stitch designs :-) Also, stitch whilst on holiday home or away. Hubby loves cross stitching too- we often stitch together :-) He has me in stitches of laughter often , too ;-) Warm wishes to you all especially Bigmamma, Iolanthe+Rosetta :-) xxx
