Jacket and trousers
5 Answers
I bought a suit jacket last week, foregoing the trousers, as I've already got a couple of pairs of plain black ones. The jacket is black, has a faint striped pattern (not pinstripes). Does it matter if the trousers are very slightly different from the jacket?

It really depends if anyone would be able to tell the difference without looking closely. Why not put the suit on and ask someone whose opinion you trust to tell you whether or not they can tell that they don't quite match. If it is for interviews etc then you are going to be close enough to shake hands so if they can't spot it at that distance then it doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter really, but sometimes black dyes vary so much that the beholder can see the items do not match and you have faint stripe in your new jacket Out of your two pairs of trews, one will probably be the better match, (look at your reflection in a long mirror, a few feet away, in daylight) so stick to that pair as your 'suit'.
