Who is responsible for the maintenance of the mains box and meter? I ask because I have found woodworm or something has eaten the backing board which holds the mains box and meter and rendered them dangerous. The energy supplier told me that I would be charged 35 fo each of two visits; one to disconnect and later after a new board had been fitted, to re-connect.
I wondered if it was not their responsibility to ensure their equipment was maintained.
Everything up to, and including, the meter is the responsibility of the relevant network (such as Western Power Distribution or CE Electric UK), rather than the supply company (such as British Gas or Powergen).
