Statues

I once read somewhere, that if a person had a statue made on horseback, and the horse was stood on all four legs, then the person had died a natural death, but if the horse had it's front legs raised, then the person had been killed in battle.
Does anyone know if this is true or not?

If you watch QI on TV (Stephen Fry etc) they covered this a few years ago.

Alan Davies said as you did, but he got shot down in flames as it is just not true.

On a similar point, is it true that crossed ankles on the statue on a dead knights tombs indicate he was a crusader?

At " Mansion House " in the city of London there is a statue of a man on a horse.
If you look you will find that there are no stirrups.
Legend has it that the scuptor upon realising his mistake topped himself.
