Allders guarantees
I bought an expensive television (Toshiba) from Allders a couple of years ago. It had a one year manufacturers guarantee and an extended further three years guarantee from Allders. As we all know, Allders is now in administration and I think all (if not most) of their shops are closed. The television has broke down. I called the number on the guarantee only to receive a recorded message stating that any Allders guarantee is now void. Surely the administrators have a duty of care to customers holding this guarantee or do you think that Debenhams, who have taken over many of the shops may take responsibility? Any suggestions for what to do next would be appreciated. Thanks.

It looks a bit complicated, but it could be possible you'll get SOME money back, at SOME point in time. This could be years though, and the money is likely only to be a small percentage of what you are owed. Debenhams may voluntarily take on Allders' liabilities, but you would simply have to ask them.
Do a bit more poking around yourself, then ask at the CAB. And good luck! :-)
wants a company is in administration u are on your own, administatration is basically out of business as far as customers are concerened, its the same for MG Rover owners, there 3 year warranties are void now so if u have a problem with your brand new 7 month old car u are on your own, u need to fix it yourself at your cost.
This is one of the reasons shopping is a risky business simply as u dont know who might go bust, however thankfully very few big stores do go bust. sorry to say this but u were just unlucky that u bought it and they went under and that your telly is now broken!
