Blocked senders
6 Answers
I have put this question here and not in computers because I dont know how it works..
Just recently I have been getting lots of emails from people claiming to be Halifax bank, Lloyds bank etc.
telling me that I need to update my log in details
which I assume are all a scam, every one I receive I click on the *block sender* button But I seem to be getting more & more so how can I check the blocked sender list
as I cant find how to view it ( running Outlook Express 6)

If you are getting a lot of these you really need to look at where you are putting your email address on the internet.
If you are putting it on forums or websites, or signing up for dodgy web sites (like ringtone web sites or whatever) you may find your email addres is being sold on to criminals.
Consider having 2 or 3 emails addresses.
One for family and friends ONLY, one for signing up for web sites etc, and another if you do online banking.

Thanks for you great answers, I am now looking into getting other email addresses as suggested, I have now found blocked sender list thanks to you, and as for blocking the whole domain, when these emails arrive they are always from *undisclosed recipients* so I don't know where they came from it seems I can only block certain names but each one is slightly different from the first for example Halifax email services, then it's Halifax online accounts, then Halifax electronic banking and so on...
I have a number of email accounts.
I use Googlemail for family, friends and trusted sites.
I use a hotmail address whenever I don't know someone or am signing up to something new.
I have a Yahoo mail account I only signed up for as I had to to sign up to a yahoo forum group (which I immediately reset to use my hotmail account).
And I have an Opera mail account which I keep "on standby" in case I have to give someone an email address which I'd rather not.
Googlemail is brilliant. The only spam I get offers "upgrades" to thinks like antivirus programs, google earth etc. or free television viewing software. All these are filtered out by googlemail's antispam filter.
Hotmail is nearly as good at filtering out spam. When I get the phishing sort you mention they are successfully filtered by hotmail.
Although I never use Yahoo mail and have never given that email address away to anyone, its spam box fills up with advertising email for on-line medications.
My Opera mailbox is always empty.
I used to have a Supanet mail account. It was useless. I had to stop using it as every day I got loads of pornographic spam which wasn't filtered.
VHG's suggestion is good.
I would suggest considering Googlemail or hotmail for a second email account.
