MM Links Solutions April 2009 [Week 4]

This final week in the reign of Baron Brian proved a little more difficult to score points although the scoring was quite respectable. Based on the theme The Building Site, the link words were:

Pick WICK
LOOKING Glass
Trade MARK
Labour WARD

But how did the predictions go?

I thought that PICK WICK would catch many of you out ~ but I was mistaken. The very first entrant was fordward who promptly �picked� that one off ~ only to be followed quickly by gen2 each claiming TWO POINTS. Around this same time, Grenmus claimed the identical hit but supported by LOOKING GLASS to qualify for FOUR POINTS (and became this week�s Top Scorer). Dinkypuzzled & grannydi were soon to follow with LOOKING GLASS in hand ~ each claiming TWO MORE POINTS.

Jools was Entrant #13 and at 09.04 chanced her arm with LABOUR WARD. Whether motivated by politics or childbirth makes no difference and another two points were rightfully hers. The very last link of TRADE MARK fell to cliffyg at 09.05 (supported once more by Looking Glass) to pick up THREE POINTS to add to his tally. The game was now wide open! In spite of this, only wickedtongue & naughtykay were able to score solitary hits.

A warm welcome to tearinghair for their debut during this difficult game and welcome back shawnee ~ your place was still on the master scoreboard! Talking of which, it is now time to get out the hallowed abacus!

Many thanks for welcoming words. In spite of scoring nul point I was relieved to see that (unless I've missed something) there's no apparent logic in the choice of links - because, as you know, we of the female gender don't have any.... Now I'll duck down behind the parapet while people throw things, live up to my pseudonym and try to do better next week.

I am delighted to score 2 points. I was getting to the stage where I was going to give up as 'nul points' was my usual score. I may now give it another go!

OMG !!!!

I am, unusually, somewhat stuck for words !!!!

Thank you Baron Brian for a most entertaining month - yours is the first wavelength I've even remotely be on [ it was the damp course that did it !! ]

Thank you, of course, to our very dear crofter - at least you don't have to send out an all-points bulletin to find me.

Congratulations to all the other successful scorers, especially all those ahead of me - I do feel a bit of a fraud, but I know how the system works so I won't feel too bad.

Ok, now it's up to me to try and provide an interesting/challenging month's contest and I'll do my best without drowning you all in billy tea !! [ or worse ]

I had to go back and check my answers on Sat. to see if I was naughtykay!!!!!!! Does this mean I have to have a new name, or do I get 2 attempts!!! Well at least I scored a point!!!!
