Hiya, Razzle.
I'm not doing much today. I have a meeting at lunchtime, but I did a dawn raid on my desk to make sure I was all prepped for it.
Then I need to get to the bookies to put a bet on Arsenal for tonight.

winter's just coming now so no suntan for quite a while; I hope he's got something else lined up to keep him busy during the wet months. They're not much on dreadlocks there, but tattoos, yes.
It won't seem like a long time to you though. jno jnr's four years at uni passed like four weeks, worse luck.

I've got tears in my eyes just reading your post afcjan - I remember when my son was about 10 and he went on his first 'big' trip to Cumbria with the YMCA boys club - I was in pieces - especially when he phoned me 2 days later to say he had been sick and had a tempreture - I drove all the way from Essex to Cumbria to make sure he was o.k. ha ha ha
Since then he has travelled the world, but my bag is always packed - 'just in case'.
Have a lovely day afcjan with your son - that year will fly past (well perhaps for him but not you !!).
Luv - Den xx

I can imagine how you feel jan. It will be a wonderful opportunity for him, but you will miss him - quite naturally.
My daughter is talking of going off with her boyfriend at the beginning of next year - taking in australia, probably NZ and Tahiti. They'll be away for about a year. I envy her the opportunity & would not want her to miss it - but by gad I will miss her. But, as long as she comes back.... ;-)

Hello afcjan honey , you'll cry buckets and miss him very much . However , it's a great opportunity for him and he'll have a great time over there and will no doubt miss you too.
A year though really isn't that long although it may seem a lifetime at the moment . Try to stay strong sweetie . xxxxxxx

i wish i had a way with words like JJ.
But you forgot to mention it could be sooner than a year because he will probably get deported for smoking marijuana

Hi afcjan, I was just thinking of you and your son and I know today will be hard for you. It will be hard for your son too but being male, he won't show it and he'll be thinking of everything that's to come.
I am going up to my home town to meet up with 'girls' I was in school with. We usually meet twice a year, and considering most of us have been pensioners for some time now, we still talk about our school days and our families.
I'll be thinking of you all day. God bless.

Hi afcjan,
(((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))
If its anything like when my boyfriend went away, today will be horrible (sorry!) but it gets better and once you've got yourself into a routine and used to it you'll be ok again. They reckon this takes about 6 weeks. Try to keep yourself busy and at least you know he's doing something he's enjoying. He'll be back before you know it.
Lots of love xxxx

Hi Afcjan. Just to try to cheer you up, my friend's son has just got back last week after a year in N.Z. He was working with animals, horses and sheep I think, but he's never stopped talking about the wonderful time he had, that's according to his mum. Now he's off to the big animal hospital in Liverpool to study to be a vet. There are wonderful opportunities for your son. You'll miss him like mad, but he'll be back before you know it. I'll be thinking of you. love. Schutz.
