TV adaptation of standing stone adventure

In the late 80s I remember a children's series about two boys who lived near some standing stones. The stones were on the move for some reason and they were called sleeping giants. I don't remember a lot of it but they kept hearing drumming from inside a hill and at the end the hillside opened and they went in, back in time to rescue a drummer boy who had disappeared. He was inside the hill and they brought him back out with them to the present day. I know this series was adapted from a book and Im dying to know what it was called.

It only a few years ago I think on BBC it starred that dude from Eastenders Paul Nicholls (Joe Wicks) it was called 'Earthfast' I think. have a search on the web for those to keywords and you might find something!!!
