This is horrid but I would really like to understand it. My 2year old cat had what I thought was one of those sticky balls in his fur. I couldn't pick it out so left it. Last night I noticed the ball had grown, was oval and green. I managed to prise it off with a comb and he yelped. It appeared to leave a mark on his skin and, this is the horrid bit, the ball had moving crawlies in it. I chucked it in the loo pretty quickly. What on earth was that and will he be ok. Is it fly eggs?
I cant help identify what the thing was but if it has, as you say "marked" his skin I keep a close eye on it for a day or two. Some years ago, before I knew any better I removed a thing from the ear my GSD, a few days latter a very nasty abscess had developed. It turned out the thing was a Tick and when I'd removed it it had left part of its head in the wound causing the abscess. Hopefully you'll have no problems but as I said just check it every now and then .
we get a lot of ticks here in the south west. if so they start out as small blobs which get bigger as they fill with blood. to remove without leaving mouthparts, which cause an abcess, douse with something caustic like gin, vodka, nail polish remover, which makes them retract their fangs, then pull out with tweezers, yuck!!!
