PLEASE not the answer, just a way of approaching this.  Thought it might be Chesterfield but can find no link to piers or pie-ers.  Don't have a TV is this some obscure ref to a famous bloke called Piers of whom I have no knowledge?

If you were writing a cryptic clue for the word 'piers' that involved an anagram, you might well come up with a two-word phrase that would confirm your hunch if you were to google that town.
