What does (sic)mean?
10 Answers
I was reading a magazine article yesterday - can't remember the statement but it had (sic) after the sentence. I realised I've been seeing this for years but never known what it meant. Any help?

It usually appears in a quotation, when the original speaker has made an error or said something that looks odd. The writer will put sic in brackets after the odd bit, to emphasise that the quotation is correct and if a mistake has been made it was by the original speaker not the writer.
