Almost all varieties of Hydrangea can be fussy.. have you over fertilized or has it received fertilizer from the lawn? have you watered well or, conversley, has it been raining a lot? is the soil compacted around the plant?  .  Is it through flowering?  If so, you can prune it back slightly and this sometimes helps... usually it's best to just wait out.. Best of luck though...

Thanks for the answer Clanad.  I pruned it after the winter, taking all the dead flower heads off it.  I don't want to lose it as it's the first one I've managed to rear.

I know I keep posting this answer to various q's but I bet it got nipped by a late frost.
I'd agree with woofgang, does it get the early morning sun? They're best in a shelterd spot. Either that or a really keen wind.
Oooh er that sounds odd! I don't mean they're also best in a keen wind I mean that's what may have done it!! :-)

I should have said that I live in the north of Scotland, so perhaps the frost has gotten to it.  I should have left the mop heads on for much longer perhaps.
