Answers on many occasions are voluminous and full of good advice...............BUT...........do you have the impression that they make not a jot of difference? It's like dieting advice, if it worked, we would all be slim. If infidelity advice worked, we would all be virtuous.

No basically we are going to do what we want , we might read the advice but that's about it. My personal thoughts anyhow.
yes, I do have the impression it makes no difference. sometimes you get the impression you are trying to reason with a plank
''It's like dieting advice, if it worked, we would all be slim. If infidelity advice worked, we would all be virtuous.''

Human beings are ultimately a selfish species... aside from all the 'guff' about what is morally right and wrong, we want what we want, when we want it... whether that be a cream cake... or a cream pie :-o
Lol snags. disgusting. but funny!!
When you ask whether or not it makes a difference...do you mean in the general scheme of things...or for specific posters and specific questions??

I often wish some of the probelms on here were followed up..I want to know what descision was made, and what the outcome was. DID they take our advice??
people seem to take advice that confirms what they really wanted to do anyway. Freud once advised people in a dilemma to toss a coin. People asked if he really meant you should trust your fate to the chance toss of a coin. He said no, but the minute the coin's in the air you'll know what you really want to do. I think it's a bit the same here.
