Got a ds 6 months old,the sound is faulty,am I still covered by the warranty..?

yes. all electrical products come with a 12 month warranty by law.

anyway take it back to the shop, or ring Nintendo bob and see if he will fix it for you.
The shop you purchased it from might replace on sight though.
