squirrel trapped in atic
27 Answers
we had a squirrel in the attic so when we saw him outside we got someone to block up the hole. job done! NO!!! it seems there is another one in the attic who has bunched up the insulation He is between the floor of the attic and the ceiling (in the space between). We have seen him fleetingly when we have been up to investigate the noises, and are wondering how toget him out, We have tried t put a small trail ofpeanuts and left the trap door open in the hope he/she will come down. Any ideas, We dont have a ladder big enough to get up to the roof and are not very good on heights any idea?

Bit difficult too, as you say you haven't got a ladder big enough to get up there. If the animal dies it will rot and stink the whole house out. Your best bet is pest control people, but they might have to take up the attic floor, which would be an expense to replace. A previous poster recommended unblocking the hole to allow the animal an escape route, which is probably the best idea.
Thanks guys, for allyour suggestions, but when I cam ome yesterday my neighbour said he had seen a squiirel fromhis window and he had beenmaking anoter hole this time above the guttering, so now it seems the male has come back for the female, b ut instead of leaving they are both up there. I ve just been up in the attic because they were driving me mad and one of the cheeky blighters came out of the hole while I was on the ladder right over to where I was spotted me and wnet back again, five minutes later the other one came out and did the same thing, so I took back the nuts! Used to like squirrels! Took my cat up there yesterday and she was interested for a while. Guess it will have to be the pest control, then I will have to get someone to put something over all of the wood above and below the guttering or it will happen again. I guess
Do you have a local shooting club? You could call in and see if a member would be prepared to get in the attic with a gun (probably a powerful .22 air rifle), wait patiently, and pick them off as they emerge from their hole - they seem quite cheeky. I personally would be worried about loosing off a gun in the attic space, but some members of shooting clubs are VERY good shots and do a lot of pest control.
