Silver trail on my carpet

I appear to have some kind of insect/slug which comes out at night. It leaves a trail of silvery type dust which disappears when you touch it. What is it?

Have to agree - sounds like slugs.

For some reason I have had the same problem in my kitchen in both of the houses I have owned in the kitchen. The first one I can understand as it had damp.

Not sure what the answer is - as I've never found where they come in from. If you can find their point of entry perhaps a sprinkling of slug repellant. Problem is, without finding the reason or point of entry, the problem may continue.

I think we ned a slug expert here to advise us ! Not a nice problem and of course hygiene issues too.

If you get up in the night to go to the loo have a wander downstairs and see if you can catch whatever it is. That's how we caught a slug in our living room.

We had a slug problem in our kitchen. We have managed to keep it under control by filling all gaps aroundthe cabinets etc, even tiny ones, with a filler. And we always keep the kitchen light on day and night because I believe they prefer darkness.
