Tracing unknown relatives from abroad
1 Answers
My father, when he was in West Africa in what was the Gold Coast (now Ghana) fathered a child with one of his employees. This would have been around 1950-1952. I know she tried to make contact in the early 70s via a solicitor (I believe she may have been hoping to marry a Dutch sailor and wanted some proof of parentage) but her attempts were blocked by my late mother and father. Is there any way at all we might be able to start to try and trace her? Anything would be of help!

Do you know the lady's name, if so you could try contacting the Ghana High Commission, or the Ghana Registry of Birth's, Death's and Marriages. It's probably a long shot, but worth a try. Good luck with your search.
