I have just come off mirtazapine as they weren't doing a lot. Followed Doctors instructions on how to stop them.
I took the first citalopram tablet before bed last night and had the worst night ever!
Upset stomach , racing mind , sweats , dizzy , I felt so bad I contacted the NHS Direst (first time in my life!).
Doctor said to take another one tonight and the side effects should calm down! I'm too scared taking another because I felt so bad. Anyone else on these? Thanks

The problem is you don't really know if your symptoms are due to the new tablets or if you're having withdrawal problems from the mirtazipine, which includes all of the symptoms you have listed.

Your GP knows you better than anyone here, so follow his/her advice.
SMH, Citalopram, an ssri when 1st taken causes an upsurge of adrenalyn. This usually last between 4-7 days. It will include panic attacks, dizzyness, agitation and nightmares. When I was on them I could'nt stand properly or walk without someone to help me. I came off them after 5 days and was put onto Sertraline another ssri but no problems at all. You could also still be in withdrawal from the Mirtazapine. I hope this helps you.

thanks chinadog and ethel am just contemplating taking the tablet - not looking forward to it tho!
I was prescribed Citalopram back in 2001/2 and had the worst week of my life. I felt suicidal for the first few days. After the initial week things started to calm down.

Just hang in there and it will get better xxx

Well, after seeing the Doctor he said I had a bad reaction and that the side effects should not be like that! I am currently on nothing and have the insomnia and anxiety, not eating again , I think the reaction to the citalopram must have triggered everything off again!!

Spoke to the nurse who has spoken to the Doctor , she said he just smiled in a knowing way. I have obvousily come off the mirtazapine when I wasn't ready (only been on them for 8 weeks).

Well, perhaps the Doctor knows best and the mirtazapine side effects weren't that bad! And they did get me better and helped me sleep.

Have just got my prescription to start back on the mirtazapine and hopefully get back on track! Can't afford anymore time off work!

Thanks all
