Cycle lock wrapped round frame - have no key, how get off?

My friend has just given me her old cycle. There is no key for the lock that is wrapped round the frame. Its say, an average thickness lock coated in plastic. Any ideas how to get this lock off my bike?

A good ol' pair of bolt croppers wil do the trick.

This reminds me of when my friend's son left his bike locked up at the train station. When he got back he'd lost his key.
You should have seen the look on some of the people's faces, waiting on the platform, when I turned up with a pair of bolt croppers .......... priceless.

Get yourself a hack saw and cut through/remove the part of the frame that the lock is wrapped around... hang on... that's not right is it ;-))

Great idea, scrap the bike and keep the lock.....still got no key thou....
