Domestic Violence before Marriage!

Hello, I've got a friend who has just confessed to me yesterday that her fiancee hit her a few days ago due to constant arguments and things she has done & the worst thing is they are getting married in 4 months time!!!!!

Should I advise her to get counselling or contact her parish priest for help or otherwise? I really don't know how to help her.......any thoughts please - thank you

Tell her to put it on hold unless she wants to be in a angry violent miserable relationship,if he's hitting her now,whats it going to be like when the real problems start,kids,cant pay the mortgage,lost his job,started boozing and drugs,he'll probably end up killing her!

Why would you think SHE needs counselling? He's the one with the problem. You can help her by advising her to ditch him NOW.

I suggested counselling so they can get outside help for this type of thing as this is quite a sensitive subject to deal with & don't want to cause her anymore pain!

He needs help for sure but as well so does my friend due to what she has suffered right?

is this a one off?? does he regularly hit her?? did she hit him first?? did she do something else???

difficult to advise fully without more background details, but no relationship can or should exist with violence. forget the priest tell her to contact womens aid. if its a regular thing, anyone can report it to the police you know.

Tell her to get a backbone. It will only get worse. Ask her when hitting a woman was not considered a deal breaker in a relationship. Just be there to pick up the pieces....
