Day trip... bank hol Monday

Me & two friends would like to get away for the day on bank hol Monday... maybe to the seaside, (though we realise everyone will have the same idea!)... we live in the middle of England (nearest city is Oxford) & don't really want to spend the whole day driving... where do you guys recommend??

Bournemouth and Poole are easy to get to from Oxford, but you will have to get up early to miss the traffic.
