my son sent some stuff back to one of the big DIY stores, and they are going to give him his money back. the thing is they want to pay it back into his account but as they will only deal with him and he is in NZ. He has closed this account for now and so there would be no account for them to pay money back into. It is quite a large sum of money as well.
do you think if he wrote a letter asking for a cheque explaining all this it would be acceptable, or is there another way round it.
this is a bit of a problem jan, when I worked in retail, we had to refundt onto the card it was payed on, if it were payed by cheque and it is a large amount, ID is required, ie; passport, driving licence, utility bill, something with the name and address on it, if it had been a debit card, a signataure is then required.
