Hi. I'm trying to make a national insurance payment using HSBC online banking. I have to select a payee from their list but it is endless! I don't know which one I should select. The whole list is a bit long to type but I'm guessing it's one out of two of them which are:
HMRC NIC DEF and HMRC NIC QUARTERLY
These are the only two with NIC in so I guess it must be one. I haven't got a clue what the abbreviations are.
Does anyone here know and does anyone else pay through HSBC?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I agree that those lists aren't helpful- it's the same for all banks.
It will be easier to ask whoever wants the money (HMRC?) for a sort code and account number. If they have asked you for the money I'm sure they would have told you these details on the form/letter. Then just set the payment up yourself on the HSB internet banking

Thanks for your answers. I have the sort code and account number but I think HSBC insist that you pay through their list of payees if they are on the list. I'll ring HMRC helpline (I'm phoning that a lot lately!) and see what they say. That lady does seem to have the same query as me in that link. Maybe it is quarterly. I'll give them a ring to check anyway.
Thanks for your help!

Another thing is I am about to set up a direct debit with them but haven't yet so this will be a one off payment. I guess it might fit into the quarterly. Not sure though!
Hello, I think that you want to get more info about it. Go to http://asdurben.blogspot.com/?q=forex
kakaduka. Why don't you just give up. You've been reported 3 times already today. Can't you read - advertising is not allowed on this site.
Kakaduka's link doesn't seem to me to helpful - looks like an advert
I'm sure HSBC must have an option to set up a payment to any payee (sort code and account number) you specify. i never use the standard lists

I phoned up HMRC helpline today and was told to pay under quarterly so that's what I've done now. Thanks for your help.
I'm surprised kakaduka's posting hasn't been removed yet as I know his/her postings been reported as a commision based link.
It seems Kakaduka's spam has been removed now. The AB ed does exist!
