Uptown Girl by Billy Joel was number one from Nov 5th to Dec 10th and was replaced on the 10th by Only You by the Flying Pickets.

yay! It's cheered me up knowing Uptown Girl was number 1 when I was born. They must have known I was coming!

ww.everyhit.com's "Date Engine" reckons that "Only You" was no.1 on the 9th. Bear in mind that the charts are traditionally dated as "week ending", not "week beginning", hence the confusion.
