Not very spiritual, I know but am I the only one who wants to shake the little b*****ds till their teeth rattle, dump them back where they came from and give the chance to some people who'd appreciate the great opportunity they've been given.

I'm sorry, but if I had come from a deprived background such as that and had been given this amazing opportunity to learn to be a professional chef, I think I could just about make the effort to leave the house at an ungodly hour for a few months.
'..but I've got no money for the fare!'. Walk, cycle, anything!! My missus and I want to know how Nicola keeps on the course. She only attends 60% of the time, didn't go to Cumbria, didn't do penance in the 2am bakery. GET RID OF HER !!! BTW, I think Jamie is about to lose money. What is wrong with kids today? Did you see the bit about the 12 year old girl who is pregnant? Her Mum(with 9 kids) is going to stand by her with the immortal phrase ' she'll get benefit; she'll be OK'. Is it me?!
I agree with what you're saying, i hate to see a fantastic opportunity wasted by someone who doesn't appreciate it. But the whole idea of the project was to give some underprivellaged kids a break. Jamie could have plucked 15 kids from catering college, and had people willing to put in the hours and the hard graft - but this would have defeated the object of it all. It kind of makes me want to blame the selection process they used, but - and i'm not sure if you saw the first in the series - they had such a poor turn out of applicants that they weren't left much choice as to who to pick! So really, it's the people who would have made better candidates that didn't even bother to turn up for the auditions that have wasted the opportunity! Michael Pizzey (is that his name?) was only put through because there was no-one better. I feel sorry for him really, because he seems very keen and actually turns up unlike some of the others, but his attention span is so short that he finds it hard to learn anything. I believe he is on medication for this, but forgets to take it. As for the main girl who can't be bothered to show up (is her name Nicola?), Jamie needs to give her the boot. Like WendyW said, how many second chances can you give somebody?
