Upload it to flickr or photobucket and put the appropriate link on your website.

It should show as a photo, not as a link.

assuming you are creating the wesite within a folder on your computer and then plan to upload the entire contents of that folder then the normal way to do it is to make another sub folder called images and then put all your pictures in there and use the path \images\picture-name in the links on the pages.
