Light Sabres

Has anyone else seen the story about the two people in a burns unit because they trid to make lightsabres with flourescent tubes and petrol. It's on the BBC website and the today's Telegraph. Are these people real? It wasn't two kids, they were 17 and 20. My friend's comment was 'Darwinism in action'. How stupid are some people?

I have a horrible feeling they may have applied some kind of flame to it. Hence the 40 per cent burns and the trip to the specialist. Have also just read more, apprently there was a third person there videoing them!

Star Wars fans are not always very highly evolved. Still, they may have thought they had taken safety precautions - things can still go wrong when you do so. Newspaper reports don't necessarily tell the whole story.

it says on sky news that they set fire to there clothes when it exploded so obvioulsy a naked flame was involved and a tube that long with petrol in it with a match added to it would literally cause an explosion.

Wonder if they could get �250 for capturing it on film haha, ok i know i am sick but then i am not stupid enough to do what they did! i would have bought a plastic extending one from toys r us and battered my mate to death instead haha

To be honest what surprises me the most is that one of them is female. I don't think I've ever read a Darwin Awards type email that wasn't about a guy.

Plus all those shows like Jackass where people basically do risky / painful things for comedy (and really don't make me laugh) they are all blokes.

But in agreement with everyone else - yes thinking that making a light sabre from a flourescent light tube and petrol is an extremely stupid idea. Carrying out that idea takes them to a whole other level of imbecility..

**** *** all marc is a personal friend of mine ... the idea was not to recreate starwars in anyway thats justs the media interpritation .... for any people who dont know there is a massive underground scene evolving of this type of stuff and it normally makes quality entertainment but not when things go wrong and thats what happened here .... u all enjoy jackass and dirty sanchez dont you .. all this is is a more extreme version

so less of the sick commets as these to people are fighting for their lives and may not make it ... and if they do they're quality of life will be poor .. so think before u say twisted **** like that ok!
