copying cd's etc

could somebody take me on a step by step guide to record a cd from my tower unit to my computer system is windows vista.

Not sure if I understand your question correctly. If what you want to do is put a cd into your cd drive and rip the songs so that you can play them from the computer, you need to put your cd in the drive, then a window should pop up asking you what you want to do with the disc. One of the options will be "rip music from cd using windows media player". if you click on this, media player will open up and rip the songs from the disc.
If you mean that you want to copy the cd onto a blank cd, post back, and try to put your question more clearly.

you can use the Nero express to copy the songs in the cd.

start the Nero burn software and select the data type after that add the songs in the CD and click on burn. select the tab verify me after the burn.

before doing this put the blank CD into the CD writer and your cd will write.
