Can anyone think of a track by either Neil Diamond or Tom Jones that might be suitable to play at a cremation?
I'm looking for something that doesn't have to necessarily reflect the occasion, but isn't too maudlin or soppy.
I've thus discounted (for instance) - "Green, Green Grass Of Home" & "Love on the Rocks"...(!!)
Cover versions are fine, it just has to be one of the above singing...
I know the brief isn't very helpful, but I'm completely stuck & not really thinking straight, so I'd appreciate any input from you good AB'ers!
I have to go now so that I can hit the phone (I'm on dial-up!..), but promise to come back later to reply to any posts you've been kind enough to leave. With thanks for your time & attention,
OK, got a lot of those two so will be having a proper look in a mo for you. That said, a quick check brought up a song called "sometimes we cry" by Tom jones and Van Morrison.
Sounds maudlin, but it is actually very upbeat, and could, I guess, be suitable for a cremation as you get a positive message from the lyrics too - try to have a listen.
I agree with Mrs O. There's an album by Neil Diamond where sings Done Too Soon immediately folled by He aint Heavy He's My Brother. Two really good tracks. Good luck.
Thank you to everyone for your suggestions - I'll listen to them all & pass them on.
Please accept my apologies for not returning last night, but I'm afraid the day just kept piling stuff on & before I knew it, it was gone midnight & this is the first chance I've had to nip in today.
