Coldsore

I have a coldsore but can't understand why!
I take L-lysine and I'm not, and haven't been, overdoing it, nor am I stressed out! And I haven't been kissing anyone either!
Any ideas why I have this awful thing on my lip??

Once you have the herpes virus it lies dormant in your system - sometimes to never reappear.
It can recur at any time, though, and sun is a major factor, as is stress. There is often no apparent reason for a sudden outbreak.

It's a horrid thing to have.

Snap! eash - I have got up this morning with a cold sore on my lip - its so swollen I look like I have had botox !

Its made all my glands ache and I feel sh$t aswell.

I hate the stage when it scabs over and then bleeds everytime you open your mouth - horrid horrid things !!

Use ZOVIRAX, if applied at the *tingle* stage it normally stops it in it's tracks...

Oh that might explain it then, I was in Brighton at the weekend in the sun and wind...

Den that is the worst when it scabs and cracks, grrr!

There I was thinking l-lysine prevented coldsores, oh well...

Thanks sprayer, that is what I do use too as I used to suffer with them more often when I was younger. I didn't feel the tingle this time as when I went to bed, no tingle, woke up next day, great big blister on my lip!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but once you have the virus you are stuck with it for life, the only thing you can do is try to control it with things like Zovirax, If I know I am going out in sunny conditions I put a small coating on regardless of if I have *the tingle* or not and so far it's worked..

ask your GP to prescribe a course of acyclovir tablets ,if you are getting them repeatedley, it worked for me.

what it is is herpes. a common sexually transmitted virus. I get them too. they are very embarassing

Yikes! I had this too. Woke up one morning and SURPRISE! YOU HAVE THE HERP!
So, i know they say that the simplex virus is different to the complex one, but can you catch a coldsore from having sex with a hep-carrier? In which case, my boyfriend has a lot to answer for!

Have this ghastly coldsore above my lip most months so can identify with you eash as immune system is challeged. Find Zovirax + Aloe Vera Moisturising Gel helpful in erradicating the cold sore. Also, try to boost immune system with eating healthily + lots of green teas. Purdeys is quite good, too. Yes, all kinds of reasons for these to appear including the weather. Yet, when the weather is ghastly + one of these appears it really is miserable. It is not embarrasing + you only catch it from kissing. It is just annoying to have them + not very pretty either. Hope yours disappear soon eash + Den.
