many thanks to traceyjo for all your previous help. Can you tell me if I can still add pearl barley to my lamb stew? I am adapting well to the diet, jacket potatoes instead of bread, crispbread, rice cakes etc. Reading all the ingredients and enjoying the challenge.Any suggestions from other surfers appreciated

It is the best wheat free bread have ever tried + have been a coeliac now for over a decade. There is a really good gluten free cookbook called Healthy Gluten-free Eating by Darina Allen + Rosemary Kearney ( approved by Coeliac UK) and published by Angus. Enjoy Quinoa- a grain from Peru, too. With practice you can have a very varied + tasty diet. Some butchers do gluten free sausages + beef burgers too. Hope that helps. Warm wishes, Bea :-)
The TV chef Phil Vickery has written a very interesting and informative book on Gluten free foods called Seriously Good gluten free cookery. Not only does it give delicious recipes but has information on what to look out for on labels, types of suitable foods etc.written in conjunction with Coeliac UK. I find Asda have a better selection of ready made Gluten free products but Tesco are very helpful and will send you a booklet of all products sold in their store that are suitable.M&S have started to sell a number of gluten free products as well.
Thanks moonshadow for the info. I have my eye on the Phil Vickery book, dropping hints for my birthday in October. I do not shop at ASDA OR tesco but Sainsbury have quite a few suitable jtems. As I am wheelchair bound I am limited to my local area. I also have my eye on the book by Lucinda Bruce-Gardyne suggested by another lovely lady on this site.
