To my sister, artists like The Spin Doctors and Nirvana haven't grown old, whereas they have to me. To me, music like that of Blur hasn't grown old, but to my younger friends, it has.
There will be people who will tell you that classical music hasn't grown old. Similarly, there are those who will say that music in last week's chart has already grown old.
With the possible exception of Take That, in which I think we're all in agreement that their sell-by date was late 1996.
You mean what groups survive when others of their era are forgotten? Another good question would be who today will not live past the era we are in? I think Eminem and all the hip hoppers will be forgotten while Nine Inch Nails lives on and even undergoes a future revival. Queen is immortal, Pink Floyd is immortal. Who today will someday be immortal? Very few, if any, IMO.
INXS is coming into immortality, it seems.
