Possible diabetes?

I go extremely tired after eating sugary sweets (without the high before hand, its just instant tiredness).

I'm tired all the time lately - I went into town yesterday and was ready to drop after being there for about two hours, which is extremely unusual as I can usually go through a full day of gallavanting around without even a thought of going to bed. I have to sleep when I get home from college, even on the days when I only have two lessons, and I wake up after about 10 hours sleep on the weekend and am ready to go back to bed a few hours after I've woken up.

I'm also thirsty a lot - I take bottled water with me when I go out to college or I can't make it through the day.

These things made me think of diabetes, but I'm only 17, I'm not overweight, I eat healthily, walk everywhere, and there's no history of diabetes in my family. I also haven't experienced any of the other symptoms, such as blurred vision or a change in weight. Is it possible that it is diabetes, or that I'm just rather tired and thirsty lately?

I thought it best to ask for a few opinions first before rushing to the doctors.

could be. Might not be. the only way to tell is to seek medical opinion. You could seee the nurse at your surgery and she/he could do a urine dipstick

Bednobs is correct.......2conditions come to mind:
a)Diabetes
b) Thyroid dysfunction......thyrotocosis.

Seek medical investigation.
I doubt that your problem is diabetes. You can buy urine test strips from a chemist to see if you have too much sugar in your urine. Ask your doctor for a blood test, if you feel run down for a longer period. You maybe a little low on iron, either way a blood test will put your mind at rest.
