if things get so bad with the credit crunch, would you grow veg?herbs? potatoes or flowers, what about fruit, like rhubarb, strawbs, gooseberries. what is in your garden now?
Hi Kate. I used to have a greenhouse for growing tomatoes and cucumbers, but not anymore. Have 2 Apple trees, two Pear trees, and a Bay tree Grow lettuce, strawberries, potatoes, in large pots. Garden now has a pond, and 2 rescued geese, so growing veg in the garden is out of the question as the geese would eat the results. Schutz.
I`ve got half a dozen pots out in my garden with onions, tomatoes, chillies, chives, mini corns on the cobs and cauliflower, I did them because I`ve always wanted to have a go at it rather than the credit crunch
i or rather the other half grows lettice cauliflower, peppers, herbs, tomatoes, beans and we have only a small garden and the carrots tase so much better straight from the ground yummy
I have a little border at the front and once we grew runner beans. Because it was bordering on the pavement, people used to pick the runner beans as they went by.
Once I came home from work and there was a small group outside and they were reaching through the railings and as I approached they obviously were unaware I lived there and were beckoning me to join them in pinching the runner beans!!!!!
I soon sent them running!!!!
I have a herb garden. I grow cherry tomatoes (cos my dad gives me loads of tomato plants every year) and I have a cute little strawberry pot.
Other than that - everything else in my garden is flowers, shrubs, plants, ferns etc. And sweet peas - but they're not really peas are they? Just lovely to cut in the summer.
Grow most things but mainly flowers. We will have beans, peas, soft fruits (logan & raspberries) & strawberries, plums, apples, cherries, pears. Mrs C used to grow most of the common herbs but she doesn't have the thyme now.
