laptop to tv

I have a laptop is there anyway that i can transfer the films etc that i have downloaded on to my laptop on to my tv.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.You may well have an S-video connection on the laptop somewhere... and also on the tv...It looks like this:-

If you do have one then you can connect it to most TV's via an S-video lead and get a picture on the tv from the laptop.
If you do not have a socket on the tv like that then you may well just have the Yellow RCA socket on the tv in which case you will need to get a converter plug that switches an S-video socket to rca plug.
Then sound will need to be output through the laptops headphone socket to a lead that has headphone jack and two jack plugs either red and white or red and black for sound. These should be able to connect to the tv via the red and white connections.
If you have no inputs like this on the tv then a scart input plug with 3 coloured RCA red white and yellow would do.
By selecting the tv out through the graphics properties on the laptop you should get a picture when you select the correct input on the tv.
