parking ticket in less than a minute

i am very angry at the moment, my husband called me this evening to inform me he had a parking ticket, he is working and staying in manchester near old trafford, he finished work at 5.58 pm and travelled to the haulage yard where his caravan is sited he pulled up at the gates of the yard jumped out of the car to unlock the gates, pushed them open then pushed open an inner gate and when he turned around to get in the car to drive in he had a parking ticket, it took less than a minute to do all this as the ticket is timed at 6.01pm, granted there are yellow lines on the road but how is he supposed to open the gates without getting out of the car?? can anyone give me a clue? thanks in advance for any answers.

thanx for that panic, he has every intention of calling them first thing in the morning, it seems there may be some over zealous jobsworths out there ust waiting to pounce as when my husband looked around there was no parking warden anywhere to be seen, they probably saw him get out of the car waited till his back was turned then did a runner, surely this cant be allowed

the people who deal with the tickets when you phone used to be based at trafford town hall on the corner of warwick road / talbot road. near the united football ground
when he phones tell him to stay calm , one swear word or insult and he will be cut off.

thanx for that dr i will warn him b4 he calls in the morning, he is likely to get a bit upset to say the least, after all he is one of those hairy a***d contractors who are not known for their tactfulness ha ha

he has more chance if he stays nice and pleasant there used to be about 3 people in the office . will you post tomorrow to let us know how he goes on .please ask him to keep a record of who he spoke to

i live in tameside and i have double yellow lines outside my house and i have seen it done . van pulls up to take a package in the house next door little sod pulls up on scooter slaps ticket on van then off

all in under 2 minutes

well people i am shocked, we challenged the above ticket and have received a letter today stating that it had been refused on the grounds that the vehicle should have been moved as soon as the gates were unlocked, IT WAS the car was only parked there while my husband unlocked the gates and pushed them open, he is ringing them now to see how they have made this decision and to inform them as he did on the challenge form that the car was moved immediately as it always is ever night, so watch this space, we are gonna dig our heels in on this one and if needs be take it to a full appeal if we have to.
